Week 18. Start Small, Build Momentum

May 3, 2026

“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day.”

- William H. McRaven

Start Small, Build Momentum

Chores like cleaning the house are not my favourite. Starting feels heavy, almost like the hardest part. Yet once I begin, it becomes much easier to continue.

When I skip these small routines for a while, it feels like I am back at zero, and starting again becomes difficult. The resistance grows simply because the habit is gone.

This quote is a reminder that progress does not begin with big actions. It begins with something small and consistent. Making your bed is not about the bed itself. It is about creating momentum.

By focusing on small, repeatable tasks, discipline becomes easier to build. And once that first step is taken, the rest of the day often follows with more clarity and direction.
