Week 20. The Strength of Different Perspectives

May 17, 2026

“Ultimately, America’s answer to the intolerant man is diversity.”

- Robert Kennedy

The Strength of Different Perspectives

It feels like society has become more polarized. Social media does not help, because it often shows us more of what we already like and believe. Over time, this can make us assume that everyone thinks the same way we do.

I used to work at a company made up of people from all walks of life. In the same day, I could speak with someone who believed we were doomed and powerless to change anything. Later, I could speak with the general manager, someone who had the power to influence major decisions within the company and beyond.

Two completely different perspectives existed in the same space.

That diversity made the workplace better. Different people asked for different things, challenged assumptions, and brought new ideas. The moment everyone becomes the same, progress slows down because there are no longer enough checks and balances.
