Today is my birthday. As a gift, the algorithm from the social gods served me reels of folks sharing their pseudo-wisdom, by being pseudo-authentic, in order to gain more pseudo-fans. Whatever remains of genuine, human expression is increasingly sidelined by algorithmic prioritisation towards branded content and AI slop optimised solely for doomscrolling, propaganda, and clicks. These are the last days of social media as we know it. Bots now make up the majority of all internet traffic and some claim the internet is dying. Ain't it funny I was born in 1984? Sounds like I'm stuck too much in my previous newsletter, right? Modern life is in large part just entries in databases. Whoops, I did it again! Started off way too dark for such a rainy day. Carpe diem, you fool! Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday, so let's put our best foot forward like James Blake. Optimism is still my strategy for the 2nd half of my life. Shout-out to Gen-Z for Nepal's hopeful internet native revolution. They chose their new leader via a poll on a Discord server. I mean... kinda amazing. I'm rooting for the people. Humans are special. Things tend to go wrong when they form groups, but usually people are lovely human beings. Be ruthless with systems, and kind with people. A stranger is just a friend you haven't met before. Sometimes they act like a mirror allowing us to see what we couldn't before. So, pay attention to who brings out the best version of you and make an effort to spend more time with them. Or simply dismiss my post 40 something rambling and make your own future op je eigen manier. Dat is sowieso beter. Maak er een feestje van, for you and yours en zo. In short: use things, love people, and worship the divine (aka nature).
That's about it y'all. Stay curious! N. |
