full program ~ sonoor opening weekend
Hello friends, How nice it is to finally be able to send you our first newsletter with the full program for our opening weekend. We're not even totally sure the bar won't have a few missing chairs or skirting boards, but as long as we have a really good line-up, a great sound system -more about that soon-, a working toilet and a very special team ready to serve you the best wines and beers, we are the happiest we can be. And we hope you are too. So much has happened in the last few months, almost even too much to comprehend. But we think we have built a pretty good space together. Maybe Oldenburg's 'third place' theory is a bit outdated (the same as tapperij 't Kraantje was), but it does capture our vision really well. We talk about our home as the first place (which for some of us sonoor definitely will be ;) ). The second place is your workplace, as it is for our lovely new and creative team. But we hope that for most of you this is going to be your third place. As Oldenburg so lovingly describes them, the ‘anchors of society'. A community space, one that welcomes music that doesn't fit the mainstream, and ideas that don't always fit the mold. On Fridays + Saturdays artists will share music that inspires them - and there's maybe even room for a dance. Some Sundays are there for deeper listening sessions and from Wednesday till Thursday we will be there to host a community program, album release or a sneaky little drink at the bar. It might be hard to believe, but one of the easiest decisions we have made so far was the choice for our sound system. It was the first choice we made - and the last one that will be finished, as the sound will develop over time. We were looking for a custom speaker system that could hold space for artists and listeners to create a curiousness, to hear certain sounds or tracks differently when played through these speakers. It allows new ways of experimenting and ways of hearing. Funny how we were ready to tell you all the specs and facts, while the designers wanted to talk feelings. That's when you know it's going to be good. We won't give away yet who they are, but soon, you’ll be able to hear it for yourself. program for the opening weekendYou, readers, are the first ones to whom we present the full program. In a week or so we will feel ready to release it to the rest of the public. As we already mentioned, we are very proud of the line-up, consisting of our dearest -and latest friends. A proper celebration of everything (and everyone) that brought this place to life. Please note that the entrance is free for everyone throughout the weekend. So without any further ado:
