One Step At a Time ...

It rained today. Not a little shower, but the sort of persistent rain that makes you question every life choice involving “going outside.” I love rain — the smell, the sound - but walking in it? I don't know about you but to me it feels less romantic than novelists and cinematographers like to present and more like starring in a soggy documentary.

So my walk had to wait until the afternoon, when a bit of a sky finally appeared. The town nearby is only 3.5 kilometres away (roughly 2 miles) and the path was still perfectly passable despite the rain. I even managed to do a bit of shopping - not always the wisest idea when you already carry a rucksack with water, notebook and other essentials, a book for example.

Over the last few days I've found myself completely absorbed by the podcast "Suspicious Minds" which investigates what it means to be alive in an age when humanity is creating something that those building it believe could, in theory, wipe out all life on Earth. Not exactly easy listening but truly fascinating.

I've already started compiling a list of books mentioned in the podcast that sound far too interesting to ignore. I will probably need an extra lifetime to read all the books on my lists, but .... hey, one of the things these AI capitalist entrepreneurs are hoping to do is to beat death, so perhaps there’s hope for my backlog yet.
