Week 27. Measure Twice

Jul 5, 2026

“Measure twice, cut once.”

- Traditional proverb

Think Before You Cut

This week reminded me that some decisions deserve a little more patience.

Whether it is drilling a hole, choosing how to paint a wall, or deciding if something is worth buying, the same lesson applies. Acting quickly can feel productive, but checking first often saves more time in the end.

This week, I was also considering buying a motorcycle parking spot to rent it out. It was 50% off as they are selling the last spot in the building. Since this is unknown to me, I decided not to jump straight into it. Instead, I set up a marketplace advert to see if there is real interest before making the decision.

Measure twice, cut once is simple advice, but it carries a lot of wisdom. It is not about overthinking everything. It is about respecting the cost of a mistake before making a move.

Sometimes progress is not about making the decision faster. It is about creating better information before deciding.
