Week 37. You Never Know Until You Try

Sep 13, 2026

“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”

- Theodore Roosevelt

Testing My Assumptions

Last Friday, I played table tennis in the First Class for the first time.

Before the matches, I was concerned that the level would be too high for me. I had already formed an opinion without knowing what the experience would actually be like.

Although I won only one of my three matches, the level did not feel beyond my reach. Instead of discouraging me, the experience motivated me to put more effort into the coming matches.

Sometimes, we decide that something is not possible before giving ourselves the chance to test it. Trying may not give us the result we want immediately, but it replaces assumptions with experience.

You never really know what is possible until you try.
