Ik had gedurende de week allemaal leuke ideeën voor deze newsletter maar die zijn verdampt. Afgebrokkeld als slecht stuc werk. Waardoor ik maar weer een soort freestyle drop alsof we bij 101Barz te gast zijn. Which reminds me... James Blake! Dude's music matured like fine wine ever since he dropped The Bells Sketch. His latest album does not disappoint. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like he kinda captures a zeitgeist in sounds with Trying Times, where he reflects on a fractured, anxious world while clinging to love as his main source of solace and meaning. It's his first independent release, so let's buy vinyl and support him to try again like Aaliyah. Which reminds me about myself a little bit. Going independent hahaha. Releasing software like No Limit Records in the 90s. The latest release I'm excited to talk about is FOTO! FOTO! even though it's in BETA BETA, I'm curious curious to hear your feedback. My mom tried it on iPad and gave the most ruthless feedback so be kind to us since we’re still recovering from this SIX-SEVEN year old. Give it a try and use promo code DISCOUNTDISCOUNT when you want to order a book. Then simply reply to this email if you have constructive feedback. Both Midnight Yous and Late Night Mike are eager to hear from you to improve FOTO! FOTO! Which reminds me about that time we shipped a new Rumicat site and totally forgot to mention the pricing hahahahaha. Which then resulted in switching things up. You'll have ALL features now for free and only have to pay (7 piek per month) when you need more subs or want to remove our branding in the footer. To celebrate our epic fail, Laszlito drew a well-fed Rumi and put it on a shirt. You can buy it to support this cute endeavor. Or... not. Which reminds me of that talk I gave the other day, organized by The Sharing Group. They're an interesting bunch of people with a great portfolio of software like Soverin (shoutout Jonsie, Ivo and Andre). Aaaaanyway, they organise a series called Good Talks and for some reason invited me to talk about the topic of Digital Autonomy and Sovereignty. I mean... yeah sure, I did help to build Soverin in the early days, but I'm kinda thinking the opposite... of... the fear-mongering narrative about EU tech. Sure, we rely heavily on American tech and they definitely weaponized it, which... sucks. But you can't suddenly choose to opt out of... globalism right? Okay, you can make a conscious choice which tools you use, where you store your data, which device you're holding to read this email, but in the end... we humans need each other. I don't expect my children to play Minecraft in the garden looking for lithium in order to build the hardware they so desperately need for their daily dopamine hit. <breathe> AI told me to cut this paragraph hahahaha. Which reminds me AI is biased! So f#ck it. We'll continue... </breathe> Sovereignty is a race to the bottom. First Europe, then all local countries, dan opeens Friesland of zo, and probably Amsterdam Noord doesn't want to sit in the same cloud as those spoiled brats in Zuid. Nahhh, I'd rather build bridges than burn them. Let's hold politicians, consultants and lawyers accountable for this madness. And if you want to build better infrastructure, the full software stack, chips, GPUs, probably mine for minerals too, you do you. In the meantime, you can book me to tell you these things in person, in front of a live audience. Ideally for companies like De Belastingdienst to give them a cookie of their own dough. Leuker kunnen we het niet maken, wel makkelijker. Jullie hebben allemaal een onvoldoende! This freestyle loopt een beetje uit de hand yo. Maybe ben ik een beetje too baldadig aan het worden. Let's switch the subject to you! How are you?
That's all folks. I'm out. I have to start cooking dinner... so yeah... see ya on the gram, in the comment section of LinkedIn, or in the DM supermarket. TRYING TIMES! N. |
